No 8 of Top 21 of NZ Animals.

Here is a profile on the top 8 of the Top 21 of NZ Animals which I did on New Years Day. Meet the Kea, the only alpine parrot of the world.

Keas are known for their clownish behaviour and thats the reason why I had to put this bird on the list, because of its cheeky behaviour. It is known for hurting sheep, pulling the rubber out of a car and of course for being the only alpine parrot of the world. It is found near the Southern Alps in the South Island of New Zealand, not the North Island of New Zealand. When my mum paints a cheeky kea, she does a magnificent job with it. Keas have a deep red color on the undersides of the wings as shown in the photo here.

I got all these photos on the internet but I know the info by knoledge. They love playing with things like gumboots and tent flaps. If you ever go to NZ you must get to see this bird, it is a must see for tourists and NZ people alike.

No 1 of top 21 NZ Animals - South Island Kaka

The South Island Kaka is one of my favourite birds in New Zealand, in fact it could be my favourite bird of all. It is disapointing to know that DOC have no plans of future conservation for this bird. People may think that this bird is cheeky as its cousin the Kea but its not. If you want to hear the sound of the South Island Kaka and other birds in New Zealand just go to this website and you can listen to the sounds. Here is the web adress.

The South Island Kaka is classified as Endangered and why should it. If I had a top 10 list of birds in New Zealand I can definatly tell you this is at the top with its cousin the Kea. Here is a picture of the South Island Kaka, the North Island Kaka and of course the Kea. The Kea is only found in the South Island of New Zealand and the North Island Kaka is of course only found in the North Island of New Zealand.

The Rimu Tree and all Creatures that inhabit it.

From recent news from my Mum I figured out that they are going to clone the so called NZ Rimu for outside, not the inside before the Rimu Tree becomes extinct. The Rimu Tree is kind of like a home to a NZ bird which I have not talked about yet, the Bell bird or Koromiko and of course it is a home to one of the worlds biggest creepy crawlies that live in New Zealand, the Tree Weta.
I have here a picture each of the animals I have mentioned in the last paragraph for you to look at. Just in case you get them mixed up I have put their names on it, their English names but for the Tree Weta it is a Wellington Tree Weta so I just put Wellington Tree Weta on that picture.

The Wrybill.

Most people don't know a NZ bird that comes up to them once in a while when they are from America or another country. New Zealand is a pleantifull place filled with birds nearly everywhere you look. The most coolest bird I have learnt about and heard about is the Wrybill even though my personal favourite is the Kea and of course the familiar NZ bird known as the Kaka. There is a couple of the things I have to say about this bird that makes it stand out from any other bird in the whole world. The first thing is that the bird is twisted 20 cms to the right and the other thing is that the chick looks for food after it is born. This bird is only found in Christchurch's beaches and it is a wonderfull sight combined with Pied Oystercatchers mixed up all together. If you ever go and see this bird when you are ready and in Christchurch, New Zealand you should never miss the sight to catch an opertunity to see this wondeful bird.

Merry Xmas to All.

I wish you all a Merry Xmas for this year since it is Xmas Day today and I also wish you the best of luck for the new year since it is nearly a week away from New Years Day. I am going to keep on updating this blog just so that means you can know whats happening to animal current affairs in New Zealand and around the globe. I believe that animals have a free right to what we have, a right to die from disease and old age, not by mechanical machines or some sort like that. Animals don't need to be slaughtered for their food, if they have a really bad disease I would suggest put them down by a vets, the animal rights doesn't include the animals that are bred for food such as sheep, cattle, hens or pigs.

Famous NZ Animals

New Zealand is home to a couple of famous birds, one South Island NZ bound and the other one North Island NZ bound. Their names are the Huia and of course the most famous of all NZ birds, the Haast Eagle known as the Giant Eagle. Here are some pictures of them. Hope u like the pictures of them. This is my second blog on this part of NZ, did it without my mums help. These birds are a real part of New Zealands history. One was famous for its feathers and the other one was famous for its height and its reputation for hunting Moas.

Hi everyone.
